(Big, red eyes glance around the dark, abandoned ruins of a capitol now emptied-out. Every feature is clear, for the child is used to the abyssal blackness.
Abandoned buildings, a liminal space, the air always heavy, as if someone is about to step out, break through a years-long trance.
Cracked walls and cracked pavements, branches, flowers, piles of red leaves once fed by a magic that’s growing weaker and weaker.
There is no wind to blow back their unruly hair, muss it up even more.
There is only the smell of their sweat, and the thrilling chase.
Kris’ mother must still be on their trail, sniffing out with a gold-white flame.
But the world’s humming is so soothing and sweet, they can shut their eyes once in a while and simply leap, run, dodge.
So deep below, every danger feels a world away.
They run nonetheless.)

Summary
Asgore dies, and by the time Asriel is done laughing, he has begun to rot himself.
So there he laid his roots and let life bloom, from the six shackled souls now free from even him.
And from the palace it grew all anew, this bouquet of flowers a feast for all the bugs who found themselves on the corpses that refused to turn to dust.
For the first time, the monsters, once made of magic, found themselves lost. The barrier, ever stronger, locked them deep beneath the hollow earth, but now, with determination, they were all too solid, devoid of the make-belief magic that had sustained them for centuries.
And where monsters had once turned to dust upon their final days, now they bled and screamed, mortality striking them down with an unceasing hunger.
