Summary
The guest bedroom had a shoe rack in the closet and Matt hadn't known whether to kiss him or lecture him about doing too much. Breakfast was bacon and eggs, Orville Peck was a pretty good singer, and evenings were out here on the porch. As the sunsets had passed, Matt had scooted closer and closer until now. Until there was only one blanket needed and Adam's arm was around his shoulders.

Summary
Coming back had caused a crack.
He hadn't been able to stay home for one more empty day. Hadn't been able to just sit there uncleared and watch on television for one more lonely night. He hadn't said a word, though. Hadn't shared or discussed or talked and had instead simply done. It probably only made sense that the first mistake was his. It was kind of his thing, after all.
That crack was Matt's hands tangled in his shirt as they stood hidden away in a forgotten corner. It was the wetness in his eyes as he asked him what he was thinking. Matt had still returned to his front door a few days later but now Adam could taste doubt in his sweet kisses. It was probably what he deserved - he had known from the very beginning that his love would never be enough - but it still hurt anyway.
His heart was just like that.

Summary
"...to mend some fences that have needed mending for a long time…"
The words kept rattling around in his head, over and over again. Matt had heard them, despite the pain of his own loss and failure, and they were so loud. Adam had to be talking about them, didn't he? Or was that too much to hope for? Too much to ask? But they still slept in different hotels even though he had a key for Adam's front door and it made doubting so easy.

Summary
It was a little weird having both Jackson brothers staying in his home. Sometimes, Adam could barely believe that Matt was sitting beside him on the porch swing and Matt had spent yesterday writing their initials together on the sidewalk with chalk. Complete with little hearts and what was supposed to be a pair of lips. But after they had both been injured, Matt had begged him - making those eyes at him - and asked if Nick could come home with them.
