Summary
“Busy? What, having a playdate with your other friends? Awkward morning after? You should’ve told me. I’d have brought snacks,” Light said wryly. There it was. “L. Did you need me here today or not?”
“Mhm,” L said noncommittally. Light would only have to wait for—14-across was ‘oxeye’, so that made about a third complete—six more minutes. “Obscure synonym for furious.”
“Apoplectic,” said Light. “What?”

Summary
"Let’s sit down and chat, Light-kun,” L said. He turned the kettle on. Grabbed a mug from the drying rack. “I’ll be direct. If you kill me, please do it yourself.”
“I’m not—this is ridiculous. Are you getting off on this, L?”
L shook his head. Not yet. “No. I simply don’t like the idea of it being so impersonal. We’ve gotten quite close, haven’t we, Light-kun?”
No answer. Hopefully Light was thinking about strangling L. If not strangling, maybe a knife. Gun would be acceptable, but bare hands and manual weapons were ideal. L would go for something simple. Hands around the neck. Light’s eyes, dark, crazy, staring into L’s as he crushed his windpipe. The only problem with strangulation was the lack of blood: there was something very dramatic about it. Maybe a knife in the gut first, if Light was in that sort of mood. Shock. Tachypnea. Slow ooze of liquid in his intestines and through his shirt. L could almost feel the wetness. Not to kill, just to color the scene.
The kettle whistled.
