Summary
Reo looked carefully out the window just to make sure last night wasn’t a dream. Nope, it wasn’t: his parents’ car (or at least, their favorite car) was no longer in the driveway of their mansion. They left him, alone, late on the night before Christmas Eve to attend to some business.
Normally, Reo would have fought with them. Normally, he would have asked what was so important. Normally, he would have begged for them to stay, to not leave him alone on Christmas.
Normally, Reo does not already have secret Christmas plans. Secret Christmas plans made easier by his parents’ absence.
(or: Reo plans a special Christmas date for Nagi, trying to romance him, only to maybe be romanced instead.)

Summary
Of course he had Nagi, whom he loved very much, but they weren’t publicly out—as either queer or as a couple. But the idea of openly being able to walk down a hall or across the street, holding the hand of the person he cherished most as almost a silent declaration: this is the person I found! He cares for me and I care for him and we’re happy and in love!
The idea of simply having to not worry about coming off as a couple and instead proudly showing that “yes we are a couple” began to entice Reo the more and more he thought about it.
Reo knew that he would need to figure out how to go about coming out in a way that would make it as public as possible.
Remembering that Valentine’s was only a week away, the perfect plan formulated in Reo’s mind.

I don’t know if it’s just the shock of me coming out, whatever ‘scandal’ they think that is, or if they’re concerned about you being ‘good enough for the Mikage name,’” Reo teased in a fake posh accent, “which is stupid. If anything I don’t know if I’m good enough for the ‘Nagi name’—Ow! What was that for?”
Nagi had flicked Reo in the head and frowned at him.
“No more of that kind of talk. I thought we got rid of that mentality.”
