Summary
Because I apparently have a flagrant disrespect for canon, Anwen Trevelyan didn’t join the Inquisition after the destruction of the Conclave, she had already arrived at Haven many months before, shortly after Cullen joined. I always thought it was weird that everyone trusted the Herald so quickly and gave them so much responsibility. So I thought it made more sense for the Herald to have already been an active, well-liked part of the Inquisition. That way, when the conclave is destroyed, people are more willing to trust her, more reluctant to declare her a criminal.
So here’s the story of how Anwen and Cullen met, long before the shenanigans at the conclave.

Summary
Cullen is a keen observer - able to tell more about a person from a single glance than the average person could glean after weeks of acquaintance. So when a relative stranger suddenly becomes the Herald of Andraste, he can’t help but watch her, eagerly trying to figure her out. What Cullen uncovers is unexpected - a woman who's smart, vulnerable and surprisingly intriguing - and now he finds himself desperate to see more.

Summary
Cassandra, ever the romantic, spies my Inquisitor, Anwen Trevelyan, making tea for Commander Cullen and concludes that they are adorable. I love the idea of Cassandra and Cullen being bros and I think that when she sees how well Cullen and the Inquisitor are getting along, she would totally ship it.

Summary
I love the conversation that the Inquisitor and Cullen have before fleeing Haven. But I’m pretty sure that if my Inquisitor was facing almost certain imminent death, she would have given Cullen a good snog before she left. I mean I love the kiss on the battlements – I just don’t think that it would be the first kiss between my Inquisitor and Cullen.
So here’s a slight re-write of the scene before Anwen Trevelyan heads off to face Corypheus.
Update: tidied things up a bit - fixing some typos and some awkward wording.

Summary
Since Anwen and Cullen’s first kiss was at Haven (read it here), the battlements scene had to be re-written to accommodate this headcanon.
Anwen is usually very eloquent, very witty and suave with her words (to the extent that she can be quite manipulative). So I like the idea that Cullen is one of the only people that can make her trip over her words.
This ended up really bloody long considering it’s only describing a kiss!
Update: reposted since I tidied up some of the language.

Summary
When the Inquisitor is captured by the Venatori, they send a powerful shapeshifter back to Skyhold in her place. Her friends, and particularly Cullen, are puzzled by her unusual behaviour but assume it's simply the burdens of leadership finally taking their toll.
With no-one aware that she's missing, and so no hope of rescue, the Inquisitor has to think of a way to escape and get back to Skyhold before her doppelgänger can cause too much damage.

Summary
Anwen and Cullen get into an argument about her casual use of magic. Cullen has some mage issues to work out and Anwen tries to prove to him that there IS a good side to magic, that it's not all pain and torture - but something light and tremulous and whimsical.
I thought I'd end my weekend with some Cullen/Trevelyan sweetness!

Summary
Anwen Trevelyan and Cullen are enjoying some sexy times preamble when Anwen gets a little too excited and accidentally shocks Cullen. Obviously Cullen and a mage Inquisitor are going to have some issues to work out.
This scene is set a fair bit into the game, certainly after the relationship is well-established but before the shenanigans with Samson after which Cullen tells the Inquisitor about what happened at Kinloch Hold.
