Summary
There is a new temple in London.
This is not so unusual. Dream has been…away, as his sister says, for over a century. Even had he not been, he does not map the Waking so thoroughly as to always see these things when they start. Places of love, of devotion, spring up from time to time. He leaves them be; they are not, generally speaking, his business.
What is unusual is that this one is shaped like a pub, and it is very much his business.
Dream contemplates The New Inn as he approaches.
Hob’s actions while Dream is away have consequences neither of them anticipated.

Summary
Slowly, beneath his hands, the temple takes shape.
The jagged rocks become stairs, broad steps leading up to tall, round pillars. Smooth flagstones form a wide, circular chamber underneath a domed ceiling that opens to the sky. In the waking world this would be the work of many hands and many months, but here in the Dreaming Hob fits each piece of stone into place himself, and with each pass of his tools or his hands he thinks of Dream.
Dream, who had expressed a reserved curiosity when Hob had broached this idea. Dream, who had constructed this place just for Hob. Dream, who presumably is watching even now.
Hob takes special care with the altar.
All this talk of temples gives Hob an idea, and Dream is…not opposed.
