"Are you crying?" Aki asks, even though it's obvious. He'd come to Denji's room for a reason, surely, heard his small sobs across the apartment; been annoyed because he was about to go to bed, probably. It's a wonder Denji isn't getting yelled at right now.
"No," Denji lies, rolling over to face the wall, "go away."

Nothing.
"Denji," he tries again, more insistent this time. "Seriously, get your ass up. I'll make you breakfast."
Denji doesn't respond, and an uneasy feeling churns in his stomach. No reaction to the promise of breakfast. Yeah, something is wrong.

"Nothing," Denji says, and if Aki wasn't so damn tired he would walk over and smack him over the head for that kind of response. "Well, it is something. Power's hogging all the blankets and I had a bad dream and I feel sick."

Summary
Aki has seen Denji cry before - but not like this. Last time, it had been kind of endearing, maybe. Sweet, even, at a stretch. Kind of.
This time is different, though. This time he's in floods of tears in Aki's doorway, snot dripping from his nose; and last thing on a Thursday night, after Aki has already finished his night time routine and was just about to fall asleep - it isn't sweet, isn't cute, is too pathetic to be funny.
