“‘To a Mr. Shepherd,’” he read aloud, incredulous and half laughing, “‘in Rattlesnake, Yona. Return to Professor Clayton Azran, Misthallery University, Breeg, Barghest.’”
“Breeg?” The doc barked out a laugh. “What in nine hells are they wantin’ with you in Breeg? C’mon, let’s get inside and you can go on and open it. I wanna hear this.”Series

Shepherd wanted nothing more than to go home and see his father again. He needed to hug the doc, to tell him he loved him, to thank him for taking him in as a boy; for showing him love and kindness, and for teaching him a deep respect for all those who walked the earth.
The doc needed to know how much Shepherd appreciated him. He had to know how much he cared.
He thought back to the way he’d sauntered off the porch all those months ago and wished he’d made his departure mean more. Shepherd would never forgive himself if he died without telling his father how much he loved him.Series
