Summary
As the sun set, it was turning the water a brilliant orange, reflecting back and casting them both in a golden amber light. Ed knew there were a few moments in everyone’s lives that, in retrospect, felt like they were something magic. He had always thought his moments like that had been used up already; all his glowing memories scattered across dusty stages in dive bars and cramped into crowded, sweaty basements. But, as he watched Stede looking at him, hair lit up like a halo, he thought he might have been wrong about that after all.

Ed Teach, former punk band frontman, now runs a successful craft brewery, and is only a little bit bored with his day-to-day routine. When he meets Stede Bonnet, a maritime archaeologist who just moved to their small coastal town, he can’t deny their near-instant connection. Stede is interesting and fun, and Ed’s business partner/only friend is a dick, and they both have so, so many things to work through. So what, if they have a summer fling? What’s the worst that could happen?

It's a major oversight that whoever originally built the historic craftsman home Ed and Stede live in didn't include a screened-in porch looking out over the back garden. They're going to fix that, though.
this is a short sequel to my longfic, 'beneath the sound of hope', but could be read on its own if you were so inclined.
