But no, there’s an honest-to-god gift sitting on the foot of the bed. The meticulous wrapping job with precise corners and an elegant (but understated) bow on top could only have been done by David’s deft hands, but Patrick has no other clues about what this might be.
“David?” Patrick inclines his head and gestures toward the box. “What’s this?”

The morning of their fifth anniversary dawns bright and cool, and David wakes, as he often does, with Patrick pressed up against his back and an arm thrown over his hip. It’s warm and comfortable, and David smiles sleepily. It’s his favorite way to wake up, in his husband’s arms with no immediate plans that require him to get out of bed.

Summary
Patrick steps out of the en-suite, looking as gorgeous as ever, his skin pink from the warmth of the shower. He grins at David.
“Is that for me?” he asks, gesturing to the box.
David nods and passes it over. Patrick sits on the edge of the bed and gently peels the wrapping off.
“Oh, wow,” Patrick murmurs as he opens the box to reveal the steel butt plug. It’s not the largest toy they have, but it’s hefty.
“Is it okay?” David asks anxiously. “I was looking for something iron but you really shouldn’t put iron inside your body because it’s too porous. And I looked it up, and steel is made from iron, so I thought it would still count.”
It's David and Patrick's sixth wedding anniversary and they celebrate the best way they know how.
