Though everyone was happy to have him back, they were equally confused by the baby he brought with him. The baby was a few months old and when people asked who she was, he said her name was Jiang Yijun and that she was his daughter.
His disciples learned quickly not to pry, the merchants didn’t. So it spread fairly quickly that he had a child, but the rumors of where the child came from started running rampant, from adopting a random child to an affair to some speculating demonic magic. Whichever it was, he never confirmed it publicly, but there were a few rumors he’d pause at before telling them that she’s his daughter and telling them to mind their tongues. Based on these clues, most disciples guessed that the mother was from Qinghe, some even believing that the child was an affair with Nie Huaisang’s wife.
When a foolish person asked if she was from an affair with Nie Furen, Jiang Cheng snorted. “Her twins were born almost two months before my daughter was born, she wouldn’t have had time to give birth to another.”
