Summary
5 ways Emily takes her coffee, and the way she likes it best
He’s gotten used to the silence with her, deep and thick and in no hurry to be broken, but lately he’s been noticing things. Things like the shape of her lips and the deep brown of her eyes and the dimples that appear in her cheeks when she laughs with Morgan, lightly teases Reid.
Things that are inconvenient, to say the least.

Summary
He takes out a pair of thick, woolen gloves and holds them out to her.
Three times now, the thought comes, unbidden and wholly unwelcome. This is what Reid would gleefully call a pattern, but nothing about this is regular—though it’s getting suspicious.
Or, 5 times Aaron gives Emily his clothes, and one time she gives something back.

Summary
5 times Aaron wants to dance with Emily, and one time he does.
Music alone had never sparked in him the urge to dance. He’s seen it in many, the spark that would light up their eyes at a good beat, and he’d be envious of the way their bodies moved seemingly naturally to the music. Aware of his own awkwardness, Aaron never joined in, preferring instead to watch from a distance, an imperceptible sway to his shoulders that matched the tune of pounding music.
All this considered, when Aaron spots the ambassador’s daughter—Emily—in a sea of elegantly dressed politicians, her red dress calling out to him like a siren’s song, all he wants to do is twirl her away in time with the smooth jazz.
(Or, 5 times he doesn’t dance with Emily, and one time he does.)

“Are you telling me a story?” JJ interrupts.
“It’s a Greek myth,” Emily corrects demurely.

Summary
It’s not that Emily had never started over from scratch before. That’s nothing new; the desolate emptiness of a vacant home is well known to her, perpetually ingrained in the space behind her eyes.
But she messed up this time. She let the sight fade, let herself believe that there’s no reason to hold on to it any longer, because she’d finally settled. Her roots were planted in rich, plentiful soil, and they wove down so deep beneath the ground she never imagined they’d be torn up again.
She was wrong.
Or, 5 things Emily holds on to and 1 thing she lets go of.
