But Henry looks so soft in his old sweats and Alex’s Georgetown sweatshirt, bopping his head to whatever tune he’s humming and making soft, frustrated grunts when something doesn’t match the recipe book propped up against the backsplash. So instead of interrupting, or making his presence known, Alex just watches, smiling softly. It still amazes him that this is what he gets to wake up to on an average morning. It makes his heart ache in the best way.
His romantic morning musings are interrupted when David notices him, wagging his tail before padding over to Alex.
“Well, good morning handsome.” He murmurs to David, squatting down to cup his head and rub behind his ears. He leans down to kiss his nose and laughs as David takes the opportunity to lick his face, excited as ever to see his second favorite person in the world.
“You’re really going to kiss David good morning before me?”
