“So…what’s going on? Something wrong? Need me to take care of someone?” The Iudex chuckles, his head tilted to the sea. “No, nothing of that sort. I merely wanted to talk to you. As…acquaintances”. “Oh. Well…we can also do that, I suppose”, the confusion is undeniable in the Dukes voice, but he too now leans onto the railing, next to Neuvillette. They remain like this for a while. Until the Iudex’s voice disrupts the silence.

“Hey. You got time tonight?” Wriothesley, packed with boxes, and Sigewinne, with a little bag in her hands, stand in front of him. Snow has been collecting on their clothes and faces, that is now slowly melting. Their faces are flushed, a soft shade of red covering their cheeks and noses. Expectant eyes are looking at the Iudex but he is at a loss for words.
“For…what?”
“Christmas of course. You thought we would let you spend it alone?”
