Summary
Beside Hua Cheng the Xie Lian of now dropped to his knees, eyes gone empty as he watched the scene before him. Quickly Hua Cheng closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms around his lover, pulling Xie Lian into a tight embrace. Xie Lian barely noticed. He was barely aware of anything.
“This… This is real?” Mu Qing’s voice shook with a horror and dismay that Xie Lian hadn’t heard in it since the fall of Xianle. “This really happened?”
“There's no way.” Feng Xin had been the one to call it a memory but now the sight before him had the martial god shaking his head over and over again in desperate denial. “T-this can't have….”
“It did.” Hua Cheng’s voice was rough with a mixture of pain and fury.
OR Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Feng Xin set out to hunt a demon that has been preying on the middle court. When Hua Cheng realizes the demon's true power he rushes to his god's side but it's too late and all four must suffer together through the demon's magic of mind and memory.

“What sort of game?” It was Mu Qing who asked the question, sounding skeptical about how much he’d enjoy the answer. Xie Lian couldn’t truly blame him.
Shi Qingxuan’s eyes sparkled. “It’s called Bed Wed Behead!”
Pei Ming chuckled softly but everyone else gave the Wind Master a blank look.
“What do you do?” It was Feng Xin who finally gave in and asked.
“Oh it’s easy! When it’s your turns someone else gives you a list of three people and you have to choose which one you’d bed, which one you’d wed, and which one you’d behead!”

Summary
Hesitantly Xie Lian steps out of the alley he’s apparently standing in, moving from it into the great avenue beyond, and then he freezes as what his subconscious has been trying to tell him hits him harder than any blow.
He knows this avenue.
He knows these houses.
He knows the river and the accents and the clothes.
And better than all of it, he knows the palace rising from the avenue’s end.
This is Shenwu Street.
This is Xianle.
OR Xie Lian wakes up in Xianle ...800 years in the past.

Summary
“Very well.” She gestures for them to follow her toward an open area near the bottom of a dais, the top of which is obscured by a red curtain. The ghost stops at the edge of the open area and bows in the direction of the curtain, a gesture far more respectful than the one she just gave the king.
“My Lord, these two would like to make a bet.” She turns back to the king and queen. “Tell our lord what you want to gain from this bet.”
“Information.” The king raises his head proudly and speaks directly to the curtain. “I want to know everything you know about his highness the crown prince of Xianle.”
OR Xie Lian's parents ghosts mysteriously wake from slumber and set out to find their son, eventually following the rumors all the way to Ghost City...

“You should be careful what you say, that demon is his highness’s husband.”
“His…” Zhou Chen’s eyes nearly pop out of his head at that. His… His husband!? A ghost!? A Calamity!? His highness can certainly do better than that! Disgust floods sour through Zhou Chen’s stomach at the thought of the beautiful prince and that… that… monster. He’s a beautiful monster, Zhou Chen has to admit it, but even so, he’s still a monster and the man who’s heavenly emperor in all but name can definitely do better.
…Yes, of course he can, because the man who saved the heavens deserves better and Zhou Chen /is/ better.
Now all he has to do is prove it to Xie Lian.
OR A new god deicides surely he's a better partner for the god who saved the heavens than any mere ghost and attempts to seduce Xie Lian away from Hua Cheng.

Wu Ming nodded and reached for the sword at his waist, beginning to draw it even as he lunged toward the nearest of his god's attackers only to be brought up short as Xie Lian flung out one arm to block the ghost’s path.
“No, stay back.”
It was only a moment, only an instant of shifted attention, but in a fight against a dozen even that was enough to allow one of the men inside his highness's guard.

“Rescue me?” Xie Lian arches an eyebrow at the man, mentally racking his brain to try and remember the scholar's name or anything else he can about him or his companions, but Xie Lian has spent far more time at Paradise Manor or in Puqi Shrine over the last few years than he has in the heavens and so these three young gods are barely known to him. “From what?”
The healer god, Wa Ying, lets out an exasperated huff of breath. “From that monster of course.”
Instantly Xie Lian stiffens, his back straightening and his tone cooling. “What monster?”
Wong Tu lets out a mocking laugh. “The one you call your husband of course and I told you before,” this to his companions, “he's not a victim. He's a willing participant.”
OR Post-Canon Xie Lian gets abducted by gods who don't like the influence Hua Cheng has over him...
