He winced and looked down at where his hands were clawing at the fabric of his trousers. ‘I already told you.’
‘You want me to spank you.’
The word sounded alien coming from her lips. Hearing it being said out loud, putting it in the open like that seemed to give the word more meaning. The situation suddenly felt a whole lot more real. Next to her, Hardy inhaled sharply and his hands stilled. Then he nodded.

Ellie left the offer hanging between them unspoken. Hardy lifted his head and looked at her pleadingly.
‘Tell me,’ she said. Her stomach was twisting itself into a knot, suddenly scared she was getting it all wrong. Scared for the consequences if she was right.
‘Please,’ Hardy whispered. ‘I just need it to stop for a while.’
