Summary
Buck should've probably seen this coming, but when Tommy glanced at him softly and invited him on a date at painting with a twist, he eagerly agreed without stopping to think of the implications of that nor the reason why Tommy was so enthusiastic about the idea of painting together.
Truth is, he loves spending time with Tommy, no matter what they do or where they go, and he's absolutely enjoying this date, too, but he's also struggling because art is not his thing at all.

Summary
“Hello?” Buck says into the phone, not recognising the number that popped up on his screen.
“Mr. Evan Buckley? I’m calling from L.A. General,” a woman says on the other end of the line, and suddenly Buck can't breathe.
“It's– It's me,” he stutters, swallowing around the lump in his throat as his palms start sweating.
“Mr. Thomas Kinard has been taken here after he got injured on the job, and he's now in surgery,” he hears, and something breaks in his chest, scattering all the way down to the floor. He knows nurses and doctors are trained to make these calls, so he can't exactly tell how bad it is judging by her voice only, but if Tommy hasn't called him himself, it means it's bad. “You're his emergency contact, so you can come here and I'll make sure a doctor will give you an update. I don't have any more information, I'm sorry Mr. Buckley.”

Summary
“It's raining,” it's the first thing Tommy says, immediately followed by another tender kiss on Buck's curls.
“Yeah, we definitely can't go hiking,” Buck comments, nearly pouting because they were looking forward to their hike today. “We've rescued one too many hikers on rainy days to think it would be a good idea.”
“You know I love hiking with you but the idea of a quiet day in while it rains outside sounds equally great,” Tommy says, stroking a hand through his curls. “We could lounge and cuddle in bed for a while, and then– I don't know, we can do whatever we want.”

Summary
When Tommy stirs and starts peppering kisses all over Buck's chest, Buck chuckles and runs a finger down his spine, pressing a kiss to the top of his curls. “Are you ready to open your presents?”
“Presents? Plural? Baby, I told you–”
“You told me no presents, I know, but I wanted to surprise you,” Buck cuts him off with a kiss to his forehead. “Besides, I love buying gifts for the people I love.”
Tommy blushes and looks at him like he hangs the stars in place, and Buck will never get used to being looked at like that.

Summary
“Evan, would you like us to go to the parade together? Really?”
“Uh– yeah, if that's okay with you–”
“Okay? It's more than okay,” Tommy interrupts him again. “There’s this rainbow balloon arch near the park and I– I always take a picture underneath it because it's really nice. This year, though, I won't be alone in that picture.”

Summary
“I know it's stupid, but I hated that scar,” Tommy confesses, voice low and vulnerable. “I was used to the invisible scars, the ones that years in the army left inside of me. But that one… It was my first scar as a firefighter, and I hated it. It also scared people away, you know? It's a physical reminder of how dangerous our line of work is.”
Buck’s heart fills with warmth every time Tommy feels comfortable enough to share something about himself and trust him with it. “I get that,” he says, snuggling closer, his thumb still tracing the skin there. “I hated the scars on my leg too. It's not stupid,” he adds, pressing a kiss to his sternum.

Summary
Buck wakes up to a ray of sunshine hitting his face, and the first thing he realizes is that he's not laying on his very comfortable and expensive bed but on the couch instead. The second thing he notices, after he forces his eyes open and sits up, is the naked man sleeping face-down on the rug.
