Summary
Eddie, who clearly does not respect the sanctity of a man’s shower stall or personal space in general, takes another step closer, backing Buck up against the tiled wall.
“Evan,” he says again. “Any chance you’re into men?”
***
Inspired by the blatant homoeroticism of the gym scene in 2x01, in which Buck and Eddie hit the showers at the same time directly after their little spat in the gym.

Summary
Buck reaches over to pull on a balloon too, then turns his smile on Eddie, radiant. Eddie wants to feel it under his fingertips. Before he even finishes the thought, he’s reaching out, tracing the outline of Buck’s lower lip with one hand. Buck pats the back of his hand clumsily, still smiling at him. “You glow,” Eddie tells him seriously, and Buck giggles.

Eddie lets out a breath and lets himself close his eyes, tipping his head back against the door. The steamy air of the bathroom and the rhythmic patter of the shower could lull him to sleep, if he let them.
He’s exhausted - physically, emotionally, mentally. The whole of Los Angeles feels the same, he bets. He’s not special. But he is lucky. So goddamn lucky he doesn’t know what to do with it right now.

Summary
Eddie puts a hand on his chest, not pushing him away, but not allowing him any closer. “Buck,” he warns.
Buck can feel the anger rising again. Eddie’s treating him like he’s something fragile, something tender, and all he wants is for Eddie to push back. “You don’t want me?” he says, voice low.
“That’s not fair.”
“Eddie, please.” He thinks the plea holds a lot more than one word can express. Please, I need you. Please, help me forget. Please, don’t leave me behind. Please, please, please.

Summary
The gentle knock on his front door surprises Eddie, although it probably shouldn’t have. There’s only one person who would be showing up unannounced at this hour, though even after all these weeks Eddie still somehow expected Buck to just barge in.
That’s how he showed up in Eddie’s life the first time at least – knocked down all of Eddie’s walls and made himself at home without a second thought. Or maybe it was subtler than that – Buck oozing through all the cracks in Eddie’s defenses until he took up so much space that it left Eddie hollowed out and unsteady when he ripped himself back out.

If Eddie was feeling charitable, he might have described the mood in the Diaz household tonight as quiet. Serene. Peaceful.

They reach for their radios at the same time, and Eddie nods at Buck, gesturing for him to handle it. “Gonna be a minute, Cap,” Buck says. “Elevator just crapped out when we were on our way down.”

“Elevator’s stuck,” Buck repeats, watching Eddie push the door open button again.
“Hang tight, don’t try to get out yet. Let me see what’s going on.”

Summary
“I knew I was interrupting when I got here,” he continues, gesturing to Eddie’s outfit with one hand while his other creeps up Eddie’s thigh, his thumb brushing along the inside. “But I didn’t realize I was interrupting.”
“I was doing Risky Business,” Eddie insists. “C’mon, man. Tom Cruise?”
Buck looks utterly delighted, clearly not believing a word coming out of Eddie’s mouth. “Sounds like your business was risky, all right.”
“Buck.”
“Good thing I didn’t use my key.”
“Buck.”

Summary
“It wasn’t going to be a one-night stand, I swear, he had this whole buffet set up. Eddie— he wanted to get back together.” Eddie feels sick at the thought of Tommy getting another shot at breaking Buck’s heart. The competition, Eddie!”

Summary
“I don’t know, Buck,” Eddie says, “I wasn’t there.” He takes a step forward, a step past Buck, a step out of the kitchen, out of the house, out of LA. Buck’s arm flies up whip fast, hand wrapping around Eddie’s bicep and preventing him from walking any further on his path out of California.
