Summary
The remaining air in her lungs is dedicated to this moment, to the very moment she must give to her brother, to the precious second she must spend in calling his name, her voice carrying over the chaos as she screams, “Laios!"
Her brother turns to look at her in confusion, finally seeing something past his haze as he opens his mouth in question, his lips forming around her name to respond.
Any attempts at forming words are dashed in an instant. Falin feels her body falter at the most important point now, the apex of her dash suddenly plunging to an unimaginable depth. The rock beneath sinks in such a way under the heat and weight of her foot, and she falls.
Her fingers graze against warm metal, and Laios barely moves. In that instant, the dragon’s jaw snaps down around his waist, dragging him up like a wayward ragdoll reclaimed by a child’s hand.

Summary
Toshiro casts her a desperate glance, and for once she can see the momentary panic on his face. He tries mouthing something to her, but she has no idea where to even start on deciphering that. She can just barely make out his face, there’s no way she could tell what he’s trying to say.
“What?” she blurts out, eyebrows furrowed as she tries her best to squint even harder to see him repeat his mouthed words.
It only makes sense to let him know she has no idea what he’s saying.
This, predictably, also lets the lion-headed armor know where she is. In fact, it even turns its head towards her, the metal creaking as it registers her.
Oh.
Right.

“If you’re so worried, why did you come down here?”
Annoyance twinges Falin's brows as she puts down her knife. “I already told you, sir. I’m here to go get my brother from-”
He shakes his head with a scoff, “I meant you as an adventurer. Why did you come down to this dungeon to begin with? You had to know the risks before you came down here, and you knew the story. If you defeat the mad mage, this land belongs to you. What do you plan to do if you are the one to do so?”
Oh. Um. Her face pales, her lips pursing together as she rather suddenly realizes he’s asking her a very complicated question. It’s one that she doesn’t even know the answer to.

Suddenly, Falin realizes why this painting would be in the dining hall. She can’t avoid staring now, resisting the urge to let her mouth hang open as she is so very tempted to do. Delgal. His name is Delgal, as in the very name of the corpse that dragged itself from the catacombs, or the final king of the Golden Kingdom.

Add the mimic in as an extra option,” she suggests over her shoulder, glancing over to the merfolk with furrowed brows. Sure, it looks like a blue and green blob from here, but she wonders if the plants could be used in a dish, could be—
“I can hear you thinking up there, and the answer is no,” Chilchuck snaps, glaring at her from his place out on the water's surface.
“I didn’t even say anything!” she protests, clutching her mace a bit tighter.
Rather than answer, he points at her, shaking his head with a grave look on his face. “You didn’t need to say anything. I know that look on your face. You were thinking about it.”

“It’s a good thing I stopped you from pouring that water out,” Holm murmurs to Marcille, who’s watching in pure befuddlement, “because it would have likely made passage through here much harder.”
As he says this, the water ripples in the center of the room. Kabru reaches for his sword, but Falin rather suddenly places a hand on his shoulder.
He furrows his brows, looking at her, but she isn’t even looking at him. Instead, she’s watching the water.
“If it’s an undine,” she whispers to him, “then your sword wouldn’t do anything. Don’t waste your time taking out your weapon.”

She has two options here: refuse and risk hurting Marcille’s feelings, or accept (because… well, she is cold) and have to deal with her own personal crisis for the next two hours.
Well, the answer is simple when she puts it like that.

There’s something in the way that she says it that catches Holm’s attention, his relaxed expression twisting into a silent acceptance. He shakes his head, turning his head away.
“The elves’ll arrest you for whatever you’re planning,” he casually mentions, “They found me and my research, and they held me in their prison for a good decade or so.”
Marcille sighs, letting go of Falin to get to her feet. “It’s worth it. I don’t care what the elves in the West think, I’m going to do what’s necessary."

“I mean it. I… I’ve already hidden a lot. Just— tell the truth, Chilchuck,” Toshiro pleads, turning away with a grimace.
There’s a flicker of annoyance on the half-foot’s face as he crosses his arms. Suddenly, there’s a clear look of unease on his face, a clear lack of confidence as he suddenly averts his gaze.
“You’re making my life so much harder right now, Toshiro,” he grumbles, dragging a hand down his face with an exhausted sigh.
He throws his hands up, serving a middle finger to the tallman with an explosive huff.
“Fine. Fine.”
Chilchuck instead motions for everyone to join Senshi as he works, grimacing as the half-foot looks over the pottage that’s being worked on.
“I wanted to talk to you all about something.”
