Summary
Dust settles and clears, his foot is beside her ribcage as he kneels and one of his hands anchors her neck to the ground. He’s not smiling. Not initially. Instead, the King of Curses looks impassive. He’s hardly broken a sweat in bringing her down. She’s breathing heavily, back already aches from where she slammed down to the floor. She reaches up to the hand on her neck to claw at him to let go. As expected, he doesn’t budge. His grip tightens just to the precipice of choking her, proves his victory when she can’t pry him away.
“You never fight fair,” she mutters. It’s primarily to herself, he doesn’t much mind how he comes across. It’s self-serving, the complaint. It hardly makes her feel better.
His head tilts to the side. “I gave you a deal. You are the one who squandered the chance.”
