“You’re sure you want to watch this?” Akihiko asks as he frowns down at the DVD player, inserting the latest horror DVD of Junpei’s, some movie called Drill III.
“Nah, thought I’d just sit here and stare at you all night,” Shinjiro says dryly as he leans back comfortably against the couch, tilting his head back with a yawn. “Yappy kid wouldn’t shut up about it, how cool it was. I told ‘im I didn’t give a shit, and then he started flipping out, saying dumb crap. So, y’know, I told him we’d watch it.”

“Looks like a storm's coming,” Junpei says from where he stands at Akihiko's elbow, all too eager as they walk home together from the hospital. “Chidori likes that kinda stuff. I guess it distracts her from the hospital room. The sound of rain pouring down… kinda romantic.”
Akihiko listens to him with a frown, glancing up at the stormy skies, a dark gloom overtaking the clouds and hanging heavily overhead. It feels oppressive. “Romantic?” he asks skeptically.
