Then, one of them trips—Gigi can’t tell who—because, in an instant, they both collapse onto the soft mattress. Cecilia ends up on top of her, her green gaze fixed on Gigi as if she were a rare gem, fragile and irreplaceable.
Cecilia smiles, and the oxygen escapes from the gremlin’s lungs. Her heart hammers on, an exhilarating numbness of the alcoholic muddles her brain, and the burning from within her body cries out at the feeling of porcelain on her own flesh.
