Planet Hyde: a mining world on the peripheries of Segmentum Tempestus, possessing only a few billion souls, an average economy, and a minimal tithe of soldiers. Its resources come from the ground, rich mineral ores leaving in great transport ships every day, bound for the vast manufactorums of Mechanicus Forge-Worlds across the Segmentum, whose vital products of munitions and wargear fuel the insatiable armies of the Indomitus Crusade. When Hyde falls to rebellion, the whole of Segmentum Tempestus’ war effort is slowed. It is an endeavor that cannot be conceded.
Wednesday Addams is a Primaris-grade battle psyker attached to the Third Nevermore Grenadiers, an Imperial Guard mechanized infantry regiment assigned to the army sent to retake Hyde. Guardsman Enid Sinclair is a recently conscripted soldier assigned to protect the regiment’s psyker—or, if the raw animal power of the Warp overtakes her, to provide the Emperor’s Peace. Wednesday is a veteran of a dozen wars, a deadly force on the battlefield, begrudgingly respected by the Guardsmen she serves alongside. Enid is a green-as-grass replacement without a single battle to her name. Both will be indelibly changed by the war on Hyde.Series

Summary
The year is 013.M42.
The situation for the Imperium has improved, but barely. The Archenemy has been turned aside at every breach, but humanity has many foes, and none rest easy. Tyranid Hive Fleets, Drukhari corsairs, and mighty Ork WAAAGH!s still harry the bounds of Imperium Sanctus. Torchbearer fleets still strike out across the insanity of the Great Rift through narrow straits of realspace, but the safety of the Terran-side of the Imperium is Roboute Guilliman’s first priority. Resources have been diverted to deal with the Greenskin and Tyranid hordes that still look towards Segmentum Solar with jealous and hungry eyes.
Wednesday Addams and the Third Nevermore Grenadiers are stationed on a backwater world, recovering from the bloodletting on Hyde two years before and standing picket against the far borders of T’au space. They have been reinforced by the remains of other Nevermore units, including familiar faces for newly minted Sergeant Enid Sinclair. News has reached the Third that will change their priorities and draw every man and woman in the Regiment to the brink of destruction…
