Summary
“Well?” Momo prompted, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Her tone was light, teasing, but there was something else there too—something softer, more curious.
“I… uh…” He pushed his glasses up his nose, willing his heart to stop trying to escape his chest. “I just… wanted to say… the tree looks nice! You did a great job! Really great. Fantastic, even. You’re, uh… good at tree stuff.”
Momo blinked. Then she laughed—a quiet, genuine laugh that sent warmth blooming in Okarun’s chest despite his embarrassment.
“Thanks, Okarun,” she said, her voice soft. “You’re not so bad at tree stuff yourself.”

Summary
“Here’s the deal,” Seiko said, grabbing an apron and tying it around her waist with an authoritative tug. “We’re making roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and something that vaguely resembles a salad. I don’t want to hear any complaints about effort. You—” She pointed at Aira. “You’re on chicken duty.”
Aira blinked, looking genuinely alarmed. “Me? You trust me with that?”
“No,” Seiko said flatly. “But you’re doing it anyway. Jiji, you’re on potatoes. Okarun—”

Each time, her hand brushed his, and each time, his heart jumped like it was trying to break free of his ribcage.
“Hey,” Momo said suddenly, her voice low so as not to disturb the others. She leaned closer, close enough that Okarun could feel the warmth of her breath on his ear. “Why do you look like you’re watching a horror movie instead of a rom-com?”
“I-I don’t!” he whispered back, his voice cracking slightly. “I’m just… concentrating.”
“On what? The plot?”
“Yes! The plot is… very compelling.”

Turbo Granny floated nearby, her beady eyes scanning the racks with disinterest. “What’s the holdup, kid? Pick something and let’s move.”
“It has to be perfect,” Okarun muttered, picking up a small snow globe before setting it back down. “This isn’t just some random present. It’s for—uh, I mean, it’s for someone important.”
“Oh, important, is it?” Turbo Granny teased, her grin widening. “You’re thinking about her, aren’t you?”
“No!” Okarun said quickly, his face flushing red. “I’m thinking about… everyone! All of them!”

Summary
It wasn’t until Momo picked a song that Okarun started to relax. She chose something slow and nostalgic—Silent Night, maybe—and though her voice wasn’t perfect, it was soft and steady enough to quiet the room.
Okarun watched her, transfixed, his beer forgotten as the glow from the screen lit her face in shades of blue and green.
When she finished, there was a beat of silence before everyone erupted into applause, with Aira whistling loudly and Jiji banging his fist on the table.
“Okay,” Momo said, handing the mic to Okarun with a sly smile. “Your turn.”

“Merry Christmas, Okarun,” she murmured, her voice soft and warm.
He swallowed, his face heating up, but managed a quiet, “Merry Christmas, Momo.”

Summary
“Uh…” Okarun pointed upward, his face already turning red. “Look.”
Momo followed his gaze, and her eyes widened slightly as she realized what he was pointing at. Above them, hanging from one of the lower branches of the tree, was a small sprig of mistletoe. It was tied with a red ribbon, dangling innocently right over their heads.
“Oh,” Momo said, her voice soft as she turned back to him. Her cheeks were faintly pink, but her expression was hard to read.
