Caitlyn paused for a long moment, turning Vi’s words over and over in her mind, wrestling with them. Her brows knit together.
“Think about it: You finally get to be up close and personal with the guy who’s practically been untouchable. You can close this case and you can make an arrest. Cupcake, you can get him out of the Lanes.”
Vi tried to coat every word in determination and confidence, holding Cait’s gaze when she broke away from the board again. Her gut twisted at the subtle manipulation.
Caitlyn released an exaggerated sigh, “Fine. What’s the plan?”
