Chuuya tilts his head slightly, an eyebrow raised in query. Was Dazai embarrassed? Chuuya feels a flicker of surprise at the thought, since Dazai was usually so proud and arrogant, never showing weakness to anyone, not even his red-haired partner.
"You mean, you never wanted me to see you like that,” he says with a tinge of disbelief, trying to figure out what Dazai's getting at.
“No... I didn’t.” Dazai answeres softly.“I don’t want you to think of me as weak...”

Chuuya rolled his eyes. “You’re lucky I haven’t thrown you off this roof yet.”
“You realize I’d be fine with that right?” Dazai laughed again, a bright sound that sent a puff of breath into the cold air. Then, without warning, he reached out and grabbed Chuuya’s scarf, tugging it playfully.
“Hey, what the hell are you—”
“Relax,” Dazai said, deftly looping the scarf a little tighter around Chuuya’s neck, he was way too close for the red head to feel comfortable about it. “You’ll catch a cold if you don’t wear this properly. Can’t have my partner dying of something so boring.”

"Then we’ll break together," Chuuya said, the words escaping before he could stop them. His voice shook slightly, but he held his ground. "We’ll put ourselves back together, piece by piece. Just like we always have."
For a moment, Dazai was still, and the silence between them felt almost unbearable. And then, just when Chuuya thought he might have said too much, Dazai’s eyes softened, the weight of everything pressing down on him like a thousand unspoken words. He let out a slow, shaky breath.
"Thank you," Dazai whispered, and it was the quietest, most fragile thank you Chuuya had ever heard.
