“Vander will be making calls every hour. He puts a lot of trust in you to look after your sisters, so keep your phone by your side. How’s your leg and back doing? Are you in any pain?”
“I’m fine, I promise.”
“Good. We’ll be in touch. Remember, Vander and I will be home by midnight on the dot.”
Viktor hung up the phone.
“We have five hours,” he informed everyone. “Papa is going to call us every hour. If he catches a whiff of anything off we are fucked, do you all understand me?” They nodded obediently. “We need to come up with a thorough plan.”
“Listen, Viktor, hey by the way. I was hoping we didn’t have to meet again under circumstances like this,” Jayce began, to which Viktor responded “likewise,” “we really need your help, because you work here and I bet you know this place better than all of us combined.”
Jayce and Vi are tasked with babysitting Jinx and Ekko the summer they're on vacation and out of school. They wander off, and Viktor, who just wants to finish his night shift in peace, gets roped in a wild goose chase with his crush.

Summary
“You ready to go?” Jayce asked. Viktor nodded. They headed to Build-A-Bear. He let Viktor browse a little, hoping that he couldn’t decide which bear he wanted to get. Luck was on Jayce’s side today. He was like a deer in the headlights, probably a little overwhelmed by the options to select.
This was only his second time here, and he intended to go home with a bear. Jayce waved one of the employees over and explained their situation, asking about the timeless teddy bear, and she was more than grateful to direct him to what he was looking for.
He gave Viktor the bear, his cheeks bright pink.
“Oh,” Viktor let out this small gasp. “This is adorable.”
Jayce takes Viktor on that promised Build-A-Bear date.
