As the sun began to set, the four of them sat together on the blanket, watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange. Ulysses rested his head on Wenona’s lap, his journal forgotten beside him. Grace leaned against Wolfgang, her fiery exterior softened in the golden light.
In that moment, under the fading light of the Parisian sky, their tangled pasts and chaotic lives didn’t matter. They were together, and that was enough.
