“Are you alright, Korekishi?”
The sound of Mogari’s harsh whisper shocked Korekishi from where he had been staring down at the same page of a workbook, studying for tomorrow’s test for an inordinate amount of time. Despite that, he hadn’t actually gotten any work done. His usual efficient working pace was slowed by the cold sweat beading on his forehead and the tremors which shook through his hands.

"Now, Kotaro tried desperately to muffle it, agitatedly wrapping his pillow around his head. But when that didn’t work it at least became useful in muffling his screams. When he pulled away from his pillow he could see that it was now wet with the tears that he couldn’t prevent from falling out.
The all encompassing noise was beginning to make him feel almost claustrophobic. It was like he had no room to breathe, no place for his thoughts to roam. While most kids spend their nights filling their rooms with petty worried thoughts or leaping imaginations, Kotaro almost never got the chance."

"As class was dismissed for the day, he got up and made his way towards the clubroom. He steeled himself against the pain once again, trying to toughen up in the face of his own decisions. Every step jostled his wings, feathers ever so slightly shifting and rubbing against each other from where they were folded. It still didn’t stop him from pulling his wings even closer to himself as he walked through the crowded hallways, people bustling all around him and occasionally brushing feathers.
He finally made it to the emptier corner of the school where their clubroom was located and slipped through the door—it looked like he was the last one there. Obviously he didn’t allow his wings to spread out, but he did feel them unconsciously relax as he crossed the threshold into the room. Whether that was from the lack of crowding or because he was now surrounded by his friends was hard to say."
