Summary
Xaden and Garrick end up alone at the Riorson family cabin, forced to work out why their friendship has been strained lately.
Xaden sits back, the fire crackling happily. He leans back on his hands, stretching out his long legs toward the fireplace.
“God, I love it here,” he exhales up at the ceiling.
I watch him, intrigued by the change in his mood since we’ve arrived. He looks relaxed, happy even, the usual hardness in his eyes replaced by lazy contentment.
“Me too,” I murmur in agreement. I get the crazy urge to ask him what’s going on in his head, why he’s been so snippy with me, why we’ve been clawing at each other for months.
