Of course, being who they are, it didn’t stay simple for long—now they have to one-up each other every year. Because rivalry isn’t just a habit; it’s practically a birthday gift.

Somehow, they always get pulled back into each other’s orbit—for another drink, another bad day. Sometimes just because no one else would understand the way they fall apart like this.
