The four did not move in a group, exactly, but they moved with one another. The younger boy would pivot cleanly out of the way when one of the girls turned to join his conversation, and the older girl seemed careful to never be too far from her sister—no more than an arm’s reach away. And the eldest, the High King, never once stood with his back to the others, as though he were keen to keep them all in his sights.

Summary
Lucy, for all her authority as queen, seemed similarly eager for the freedom the sea provided. Nadora could see it in the way she stood—limbs loose, a few strands of her golden hair blowing in the soft breeze, an easy smile upon her lips. She was at peace upon the water, even just standing at the edge of it.

It took some time for the outstretched hand in front of her to fully register. Held out toward her from above, King Peter’s hand was no longer gloved as it waited patiently for her.
Nadora blinked, eyes darting from his palm up to his face, and then squinted. Though the bulk of his form blocked out a good portion of the sky in her direct view, she could still see the bright light of the daytime shining behind and around his head. If she didn’t already know what he looked like while wearing a crown, she might have guessed he had it donned now for the way his hair seemed to glow and shine about his face.Series

Early in his kingship, Peter had spent many sleepless nights laid out on the throne hall’s floor. It was easier to sneak around inside the castle at night, than it was to sneak out onto the grounds in the middle of the night, and the glass roof allowed him to see the sky unobstructed. She ran her fingers over the envelopes, taking in each one. She'd seen enough missives over the years to recognize the seal as Narnian, but where the red wax was distinct, the image pressed into it was not the royal one.

Summary
Peter had shared all of his worries and apologies and hopes and uncertainties in his letters, and now, with each step and every swing of her sword, she finally responded. Not with a barrage of attacks, nor a monologue or declaration, but a dialogue. Each blow posed a question, and each parry a response. There were more questions than answers in their exchange at first, the dance more complicated as they went on. But neither lessened their resolve. The only victory today would be one of truth, not courtesy.
