Summary
“Perhaps this will lift the weight of your days,” a warm, lightly accented voice called out, as he placed the plate in front of you personally. You take note of his hands, steady, capable, surprisingly elegant, but not without their callouses, the kind that speaks of work rather than play. Your eyes trail up his arm, noting how his shirtsleeves are rolled, until they meet his. He doesn't retreat.
So this was Antonin Carême. You weren't expecting him to be so handsome. You didn’t pay most chefs any mind, but he was… beautiful.
—
You’re a noblewoman, and after tasting Antonin’s cooking, you must have more.

Summary
“Someone will hear us.” You’d keep making excuses until there were none left to hide behind.
“If you’re so worried, then we can keep you quiet,” Antonin says, taking a vanilla éclair and gently placing it in your mouth. “Perfect.”
“You’re lucky, you know? I make the best vanilla éclairs in Paris,” Antonin adds with a wicked little grin.
“Oh really?” you say, or at least try to say, muffled by the pastry. But from what you can taste, he’s not wrong—the cream is rich and silky, the choux pastry light, melting in your mouth like a secret.
—
After your encounter at your private dinner, Antonin finally returns, and you are finally satisfied.
