Summary
He’d wanted to prove everyone wrong. He’d wanted everyone to see that he was ready to go on a hunt. He was just as good— no, better— than Neteyam at being a hunter in training. He was going to show them all by going up against the monster that wore his dad’s face, and he was going to win.
(He doesn't.)

Summary
Lo’ak cracked open one eye. In the orange light of the sunrise he saw blonde curls, golden skin, brown eyes. Spider looked like he was glowing. Lo’ak huffed and squeezed his eyes shut again.
“You’re not real,” he croaked.
“Maybe not.” Spider retracted his hand, but Lo’ak didn’t try to scratch again. “Do you want me to go?”
Immediately Lo’ak said, “No. Don’t leave me here alone.”
