Summary
Zhengxi suddenly finds himself nearing the line to go on stage. Mo and Buzzcut are behind him chattering, and the rain starts to pour heavier. It pours heavier and heavier, and everyone brings up their umbrellas.
He looks around for a second, and it feels like a funeral. It almost feels like some sort of confirmation.
The sky is grey, everyone’s dressed dark and casual, with dark umbrellas up, and he’s on a stage, and Jian’s not there. His eyes can’t spot that blonde head of hair anywhere.
Or: During high school graduation, Zhengxi finally breaks down.

“You’re a scrawny little thing. He Cheng has informed me of your lack of strength, also. Your mother didn’t raise you right. My plan is to toughen you up, so you can handle the responsibility your mother and your father have put on you. When you can protect yourself, that’s when you can go.” He bows his head, talking very final, denying Jian of any choice in the matter.
He gets put in the room; it’s sterile and clean, and so not him at all. The door closes and that’s when Jian realises. He wasn’t saved at all.

As it would turn out, not everything is simple and straightforward after finally confessing to Jian and getting in a relationship like Zhengxi had thought.
The problem now is, Zhengxi is very awkward.
Well, it’s always been a problem, but he’s always been good at hiding it, but now… He has to try and find a balance between being lovey with Jian (while Jian knows he likes him now, embarrassing) while also not seeming desperate (which he is) while also not making Jian doubt his affection (because he’s like that).
