Summary
It was the middle of a quiet night and John was asleep, alone in his bed, when his throat was slit. He was dead before he'd even properly started to choke on the blood.
The most shocking part was when he woke up. He gasped, lurching up and pawing at his own throat. The skin was unmarred. The cut had closed, not even leaving a scar behind.
His killer was still in the room. In one swift movement, John impaled them through the chest and pushed them until their back met the wall.
John's eyes had adapted to the darkness, and in the faint moonlight that filled the room, John saw him: a young man, with a lithe build and long-ish, wavy hair. The man did not try to reach for any weapon nor free himself from John's sword. Instead, bewildered and stunned, the stranger said, incomprehensibly, “You're like us?”
The Old Guard AU. When John discovers he's immortal, his life changes entirely. For better or worse.

John was on his back, arms freed, eyes open but glassy and sightless still, and there were hands framing his head, and a forehead against his, and a voice, pleading. (Bob’s, his voice, his hands, recognizable above all others, even when John wasn’t sure of his own name and his own body.) The pleading continued, the words starting to make sense. “John, please come back to me. Please, this can’t—”
John has gotten more than used to the 21st century, and he’s enjoyed countless decades with Bob and the rest of their little group of immortals. But danger is still around the corner, and maybe their team is not quite complete yet.
