Summary
It was the middle of a quiet night and John was asleep, alone in his bed, when his throat was slit. He was dead before he'd even properly started to choke on the blood.
The most shocking part was when he woke up. He gasped, lurching up and pawing at his own throat. The skin was unmarred. The cut had closed, not even leaving a scar behind.
His killer was still in the room. In one swift movement, John impaled them through the chest and pushed them until their back met the wall.
John's eyes had adapted to the darkness, and in the faint moonlight that filled the room, John saw him: a young man, with a lithe build and long-ish, wavy hair. The man did not try to reach for any weapon nor free himself from John's sword. Instead, bewildered and stunned, the stranger said, incomprehensibly, “You're like us?”
