Summary
Business was business—a true nature of Zhongli that he never denied. The boyish charm of the redhead was drawing Zhongli like a moth to a flame; every time his excited laughter cut through the music and voices, every time he shouted words in foreign language to another person passing by his table, Zhongli caught his gaze slipping to taste the perfect lines of the man’s jaw and nose, indulge into following his exuberant gestures. He seemed almost too jovial, too straightforward—Zhongli could be sure there wasn't a simple bone in his body. It was easy to notice that people used any opportunity to greet him, shake his hand, say a word of praise or two. Ah, then perhaps… he wasn't the flame but the sun, forcing everyone to circle around him with nothing but his charm.
Or: Mr Zhongli, a stock trader, meets a young man at a speakeasy and finds himself drawn to him far too easily.

Summary
The screenplay Childe was reading—a simplistic plot and brute dialogues—caught Zhongli speechless. All because of Childe’s voice, emotional in the right moments, sad and dripping with love, in such harmony with jazz seeping out from the gramophone. He knew some of his lines, all too professional while—according to his words—many actors simply read the lines from the board cards presented by the film crew. All that was needed was their lips moving.
Zhongli felt the sadness, the regret that nobody would hear Childe’s voice like he was hearing it right now.
“They should develop talking pictures just for you.”
Or: During a break in filming, Childe visits Zhongli; rehearsing his role causes Zhongli to learn something new about himself.

Alas, the sunny rooms of their attic flat were a nursery for two men’s ambitions and disappointments. Alhaitham’s were stubborn and cold, prompting him to send his novels from publisher to publisher, refusing to change anything in the stories, in which every word and every comma was in the right place.
And Kaveh’s? His disappointment was like the insanity hidden within the walls of a madhouse, his tears the only diamonds in their home, the rough texture of his lips a testimony of his teeth breaking the delicate flesh over and over again.
His disappointment was his bared soul painted on the same canvas over and over again, when he heard the same answer over and over again: the world is gold now, Mr Kaveh. Paint it with smiles, not screams.
