Summary
The screenplay Childe was reading—a simplistic plot and brute dialogues—caught Zhongli speechless. All because of Childe’s voice, emotional in the right moments, sad and dripping with love, in such harmony with jazz seeping out from the gramophone. He knew some of his lines, all too professional while—according to his words—many actors simply read the lines from the board cards presented by the film crew. All that was needed was their lips moving.
Zhongli felt the sadness, the regret that nobody would hear Childe’s voice like he was hearing it right now.
“They should develop talking pictures just for you.”
Or: During a break in filming, Childe visits Zhongli; rehearsing his role causes Zhongli to learn something new about himself.
