Summary
They are standing close now, the blood Entreri has spilled pooling around the soles of their shoes.
Jarlaxle wonders if he should ask before he kisses him – to surprise Artemis Entreri while at arms lenght would mean a quick death. But surely Entreri can tell why he is leaning in.
As soon as the thought crosses his mind he finds himself, of course, voicing it out loud. He really, really hated honesty potions from now on.
"Can I kiss you?" he asks, already too close for the comfort of any who did not want to be kissed.
"You better!" is all Entreri manages to get in.

A potion of honesty, an elf with a fake heart on is sleeve and an assasin who keeps to himself walk into a cave. Thoughts are voiced, actions are taken, and the two begin to... well, it's not healing yet, but it is still progress (probably).

Summary
"I will not come closer unless you ask me to. I understand if you do not wish me to. But... I..." he sounds so nervous, hesitant, and it surprises her.
"Do you want me to hold you?" he asks, finally.
All she can do is nod, because she is terrified and shaken. Her voice disobeys when she tries to speak.
He kneels next to her, extending his arms. She crumples against his chest, holding onto the stolen shirt like it was the last remain of a sunken boat. Sunflower clinging to the last Ray of sun, a newly born babe holding its mother's finger.
Entreri wraps his hands around her, drags them slowly up and down her back.
"You are safe," he says as she cries into his chest, "I've got you."

Sometimes, the best friend a girl can have is an assassin that once dragged her, terrified, across half the Sword Coast. Sometimes, the best friend a heartless assassin can have is a woman willing to extend an ounce of kindness towards him.

Summary
Artemis, predictably, sighs again, but stands, Jarlaxle in his arms. A comical sight, probably, seeing that Artemis is a good few inches shorter. But Jarlaxle is too busy marveling at being picked up with such ease – it entices him every damn time.
There's a knock on the door.
They still immediately. There are many reasons someone might be at their door – they have been in this town a few weeks at this point. Both allies and enemies have been made; the latter would seldom go knocking on their door at a still respectable evening hour.
Artemis quickly pulls on a clean shirt as Jarlaxle kicks the pile of bloodied clothing away. Then Artemis opens the door.
Jarlaxle would recognize the man standing behind the doorframe everywhere and every time, in any lifetime, in any circumstance. He would recognize him blind and deaf. In the deepest pits of his heart his face is etched in bloody runes; his voice is lodged in his ears like a forever ringing bell.

Only a fool would be jealous of a dead man. Of a long gone memory.
Artemis Entreri is no fool. Until the memory comes back from the dead. That might... complicate things.Series

Summary
"I love you. And I forgive you."
Entreri lifts his head from where it was collapsed against the wall. And then he... kisses him?
Drizzt cannot fathom why he would say or do so. It must be the bloodloss, driving him to madness; a memory of a past love seeping in over reality as life drains out of his eyes. If a man like him is even capable of love.
It garners no reaction from Zaknafein. He merely takes a step back and slashes Entreri's throat.
***
Artemis dies. Drizzt witnesses. Both things complicate Zaknafein's life tremendously.
