Summary
Only when the elevator shuts them off from the rest of the world does Oscar realize what he’s done. The sudden silence is loud in his ears, as Carlos leans back against the wall opposite him and closes his eyes.
He gets the chance to look at him, really look at him, the curve of his eyes, the slant of his nose, the line of his throat. There’s a strange energy in this interaction that hasn’t been there before, one that Carlos seems entirely unaware of.
Maybe Oscar’s going crazy.
