It had been such a fucking honour that Mecha Man had chosen him - but damn... he didn't expect to be hired as a glorified babysitter for the boss's kid. And sure, Astral paid him well to watch his kid but this was fucked up. He was supposed to be a superhero - not a daycare.

It's only been a couple of months since Mecha Man and the Z-Team defeated Shroud and The Red Ring. They've rebuilt the Torrance branch of SDN and the team is working together better than ever. Robert is even able to work part time as Mecha Man and part time as a dispatcher. He would even say that things were going well-
And then it's all over the news - Deadlock, also known as Dr. Etta Crane, has escaped from supermax. This was the bitch that took Robert's father 8 months to capture and put behind bars. She was eventually put away for the murder of 43 people, but she probably killed and psychologically tortured way more.

It doesn’t take the Z Team long to catch onto what a hot mess Robert Robertson III is. At first, it was what made their new dispatcher somewhat relatable. The other dispatchers they’d been given have been goodie-two-shoes narcs that had their perfect little lives in order - it fuckin’ sucked. It felt like they were rubbing it in y’know.
So yeah, at first, they’d let it slide - but then as they got to know Robert a bit more it just got fucking depressing.

Before the Z-Team finds out Robert is Mecha Man, they have a bet going about which washed-up hero he used to be. That is until Sonar overhears Bobby-Boy talking with Chase about his back problems.
"Yeah, well you wouldn't have fuckin' back problems if you still had your goddamn mattress."
Robert just rolls his eyes and smirks over at Chase "You dangle one guy off a building and suddenly the world is against you."
"Damn right. Waste of a good mattress on that toxic piece of shit." Chase says with a scowl as he crosses his arms and leans against the wall between their cubicles.
“Yeah, well, hindsight's a bitch,” Robert concedes “I’ll get a new mattress soon.”
“You fuckin’ better, otherwise I’m holding Beef hostage till you do.”
Interesting. Maybe Bobby-Boy wasn't a hero after all...
