Summary
Kai takes Lloyd on a camping trip to celebrate his eighteenth birthday. Kai begins to feel strange after drinking some tea, and Lloyd is more than happy to engage with the feelings. But Kai doesn't want this; it was a mistake. However, that mistake is all Lloyd has wanted for the past decade.

Summary
Kai nodded deftly. His head felt like it spun completely around as he did so. “I just want to make you happy,” Kai mumbled. His knees wobbled and gave out, sending Kai crashing to his knees. Sharp pain should’ve registered as shooting through his legs. But Kai couldn’t feel it. He couldn’t feel anything except a heavy heart, dragging him down to the depths.
“Kai!” Lloyd cried out.
Kai ignored Lloyd’s concern. It wasn’t real anyway. None of this could be real. The world he was shown was an illusion designed to lure him in. It was too good to be true. He’d never find a portal to his loved ones inside a lake of monsters. His sister would never understand. Kai could never make Lloyd happy.
Years pass since Lloyd and Kai began dating in secret. Lloyd couldn't be happier. Kai on the other hand? Well... He just wants Lloyd to be happy. That's when the merge hits, tearing them apart. Love prevails and brings them together once more. Kai can't lose Lloyd again. But he can't seem to do what's right. He fears Lloyd will never be happy and if Kai can't fix that, neither of them will ever find peace.
