It was Benji’s tenth birthday, and nothing else mattered for today. The living room was packed with cousins, aunts, and loud, rhythmic music bouncing off the walls. The food was sweet, unhealthy, and pumped with enough red-40 to tranquilize a horse--the party was all Benji could have possibly dreamed of.
It was Benji’s tenth birthday, and David’s stupid little feelings didn’t matter.
