Charles didn’t get a chance to answer before Monty shoved him into a narrow side street with all his might. Despite his short stature and thin frame, Ewen Montagu was deceivingly strong and Charles was thrown completely off of his feet. Monty didn’t have a chance to follow his friend before the world erupted into pain.

“But the last few days, it-it’s been happening again. I fall asleep and I see you, but you’re not breathing and there’s blood everywhere and then I wake up and I have no idea what’s real and what’s not or where I am or where you are. I’m just so… so tired.” Charles finished with a heavy sigh, shoulders sagging and eyes glassy.
The feeling that they were too young to have such heavy burdens wasn’t exactly a new one, but it did feel more true in that moment than it ever had before. He tried, rather desperately, to think of something, anything, that would help ease that bone-deep tiredness he knew all too well, but he came up short. It wasn’t fair, Charles always seemed to know the perfect thing to say that would calm him down and Monty wanted to help this person who he cared for so much that it genuinely frightened him.
