Summary
If Dess was in the Dark World, she would’ve cracked Lancer’s skull open with a baseball bat five minutes in.
It was one of those traits, like everything else about Dess, the town didn’t talk about anymore. She played rough, denting instruments until the strings broke and burning through sports equipment until her skates left jagged scars across the ice. And when it came to games, she was always the strongest, no matter how many enemies she had to destroy.
But everything got softened when you disappeared, didn’t it? Suddenly you were such a sweet and fresh girl, a nice and tidy girl, like everything dirty about you had gotten dusted away from your memorial pictures on the mantle. People--especially monsters, with magic and compassion making up their very beings--didn’t want to hold onto unresolved resentment.
(Or: after the SOUL leaves its unwilling and troublesome host for a new vessel, Kris is left to stumble through the dark back into the loving arms of the only person left who understands them.)

Summary
It's been four days since Kris Dreemurr went missing.
Four days of sober, grim silence following the chaos of the festival like a corpse after a gunshot.
But Catti won't let her old ritual partner disappear. If it takes every bit of dark magics she can muster, she'll find a way to track them down and pull them out from the darkness. She won't let them end up like Dess. This time, she'll do better. She'll help Noelle smile again.
...Though she wasn't expecting to summon, of all possible demons and familiars, a cartoonish red heart.

Summary
It’s a warm summer afternoon, the sky cloudless blue and the grass streaked yellow like drying paint, when you and Susie start walking together towards the edge of the world.
It’s no good to put people on pedestals. Everyone in Hometown says otherwise--that this time they’ll get it right, this time the pedestal will fit, this time the golden child will stay gold--but you’ve seen what it did to Asriel, and you’re a little tired of trophies and placards on the wall. It’d be unfair to Susie, to raise her up higher than anyone can reach when all she wants is to be around everyone.
So it’s no good to say holy things like "you’re the best person I’ve ever met" and "I want to be around you forever" and "I wish I was like you."
But when Susie sighs a breath and mutters, “Man... this town is Goddamn weird, huh?” you can’t help but laugh.
(OR: after the Roaring, the betrayals, and the Angel's ascension to Godhood, Susie sees Kris off on a summer road trip with Dess out of Hometown. Too bad there's nothing past Hometown.)
