Summary
Jason wasn’t sure what to expect for his birthday (maybe they’d all go to the movies? Or maybe something as simple as a picnic in the park to take advantage of the beautiful summer weather?) but he figured it didn’t matter. He’d love it no matter what they chose to do because he’d be doing it with them. With his heart hammering in his chest, he shoved on his glasses and reached for his phone, ready for the flood of messages that were sure to await him.
He found nothing.
Jason blinked at the screen, brain still foggy from sleep, as he tried to process what he was seeing. He pulled up his texts, convinced that he’d actually woken up earlier, read the messages, fallen back asleep, and forgot it all. Nothing. He refreshed it just in case, and the little notification of No new messages blinked at him mockingly. He shut his phone off and restarted it. Still nothing.

Jason wakes up on the morning of his sixteenth birthday, only to find that his friends have apparently abandoned him. A surprise chase through the woods reveals more than Jason could have ever thought to hope for.

Summary
Nico turned to head into the arena, and Jason was going to follow him but he stumbled slightly. Nico’s eyes widened, and he reached out a hand like he was going to help, but Leo beat him to it. He had plastered himself to Jason’s chest, feet planted so firmly that even Jason’s gigantor body couldn’t knock him over, and he gave Jason his cheesiest, most obnoxious smile. “Hey, Superman!” He glanced over his shoulder and nodded at Nico. “Bat Boy.”
Jason blinked a couple times like he was trying to connect the dots, but he still reached a hand up and stroked Leo’s hair. “Hey, Leo.”
“Whatcha up to?”
“Um.” Jason paused and rubbed at his furrowed brow like he was struggling to remember. “I think we were about to, uh…”
“Sparring,” Nico supplied. “Last time Thalia visited, she taught him a technique that he was going to show me.”
Leo blew a raspberry. "Boo, no, that’s boring. It’s Boyfriend Time, actually. You’re going to spend all day with me.”

Thanks to a deeply unfortunate amount of head injuries, Jason has chronic migranes. Thanks to a lifetime of servitude, he's also got a complex. Both are eqyally deblitating, but luckily Leo knows a thing of two about his boyfriend.

Thanatos studied him for a moment, before he looked back at his papers. “I am not here for either of your souls, Mister Valdez, much as it would please me to put them where they belong. The title ‘Hero of Olympus’ carries a fair bit of weight, and Her Majesty vouched for you both.”
“Oh.” Leo’s head spun a little at the thought of Hera in her Tía Callida get-up squaring off against the god of death, but he dismissed it. “Uh, what do you want then?”
Thanatos's eyes sparkled with interest for the first time since Leo had walked into the room, and he leaned forward over the desk. “Well, you’re a demigod, yes? A hero?”
“Uh, yeah. Last time I checked Ancestry dot com, at least.”
“Mister Valdez, I want you for the same reason any god wants a hero,” Thanatos said. “I want you for a quest.”

After getting summons from Death Himself, Leo is tasked with a quest to recover the tools of Fate in order to settle the debt he incurred with his and Jason's lives. The quest is a lot more ridiculous and painful than Leo could have ever imagined.
