Summary
“Noticed you were reading- get side tracked, huh?” Karlach asks.
You nod, smiling down at Scratch and giving him a bit more of a pet. He licks your hand- but for whatever reason he rises and lopes off.
“Oh. Bye bye.” You tell his retreating form.
“Aw, that’s okay. He obviously liked the cuddle.”
“’M cold now.” You frown a little, eyebrows tightening.
“Cuddles keep you pretty warm, yeah.”
“You’re warm.” You say like it’s related- and it is, to you.
She doesn’t quite know what to do with the fact you say it like it’s something lovely and not something awful.
(Four times (practically) no one notices, and one time they do.
Mama Karlach really, really got to me.)

Summary
He doesn’t know what instinct he’s working on. Just that he has one – and that he’s happy to lump it in with being the protective, polite boyfriend.
You don’t really know what to make of it, either. Wrapped up in the darling little routine of him opening the passenger door for you and you thanking him – when he leans down and crowds you in you think for once he’s going to steal a little kiss, raising your chin up to meet him and letting out a little noise of confusion as his body keeps going past you entirely, face gently pressing into his shoulder as he leans over.
Or: Four times Clark doesn’t realize he’s being a big and one time he does.
