In September 1995, Harry Potter breaks into the Department of Mysteries and comes home with a word he wishes he didn't know. He finds out he's a Horcrux the hard way: by looking it up himself. Dumbledore, when confronted, has the expression of a man who has been waiting for this conversation.
Harry leaves his office.
In October 1995, he steals an experimental Time-Turner with no anchor point and lands in 1943.
