Summary
It has been months since the cholera outbreak in Port Victory.
Months since Jack and Belle took Elsbeth in from Devil's Elbow, since Lady Jane permitted them to be together.
Belle has taken up lessons with Elsbeth, Jack visits Government House practically everyday: for weekly family dinners, to put Elsbeth to sleep or to simply spend time with Belle. They had a new life. Everything was perfect.
Can their newfound peace be preserved? Or will old feelings of doubt get in the way?

Belle was annoyed. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get the thought of that ridiculous woman from yesterday out of her mind.
How could she be so bold? So shameless?
Asking for an examination when you are not truly ill was irritating enough, especially when the hospital was already overrun with real cases, but to insist that Jack do it was simply…wrong!
